The Pennsylvania Community Transportation Initiative will accounytfor $11.8 million of the fundingy award for Western Pennsylvania, and is suppose d to entice developers to take an innovative approacyh to walking, biking and public transportation aroune new construction. The second chunk, Safe Routee to School funding, will put $3 millioh to make it accessible for children to walk or bike to Allegheny County PCTI Oakland Transportatio Management Association and Carnegie Mellon University willreceivr $150,000 to study methods for improving safety and multi-modal access along the Forbes Avenues and Fifth Avenue corridors.
Allegheny County Publiv Works Department willreceive $500,000 to developp a safe network of trails for pedestrians and bicyclistas in Allegheny County’s North Park. Poinyt Park University will receive $3,950,000 to install corridor upgradezs and enhancements to Wood Street corridor and the intersectiond of Boulevard of the Allies andThird Avenue. All Alleghenh County Economic Development willreceivse $300,000 to study ways to ensurre that walking and biking can becomwe an integral part of getting around Allegheny County. Carnegis Mellon University willreceive $30,00p to create an online collaborative transportatiojn planning network.
Allegheny County Safe Routes to School Moon Area School District willreceive $70,096 to instalol sidewalks along Hassam Road to connectt J. H. Brooks Elementary School to nearbhresidential areas, as well as sidewalksx along Beaver Grade Road. Munhall Borough will receive $781,698 to restore sidewalks, curbds and crosswalks and to construct new curbs and handicap ramps alongtMain Street, Charles Street, Charles Streeyt Extension and Lea Street.
Beaveer County PCTI Beaver Countyu Transit Authority willreceive $1,800,000 to install a roundabout for a 6-legged with intermodal components that will resulty in operational cost savings to the transit Beaver County Safe Routes to School Cente r Township will receive $967,309 to install speed humps, warningv signs, pavement markings and sidewalks along the eastern side of Poplar Driv e to increase access to Center Area Middlde School, Todd Lane Elementary, and the K-2 Primary Center. Fayette County PCTI Redevelopment Authority of the Count of Fayette willreceive $1,920,000 to improve the Routs 381 corridor through Ohiopyle State Park and borough.
Greenre County Safe Routes to School Waynesburt Borough willreceive $442,500 to construct a walking and biking path from Margaret Bell Millefr Middle School to Second Avenue. Indianaw County PCTI Blairsville Borough willreceive $3,118,465 for infrastructure improvements, including bicycles and pedestrian improvements, to Blairsville Diamond Square and Market Street. Indiana County Safe Routes to School Homert City Borough willreceive $284,94r5 to improve crosswalks, sidewalks and curbinhg at various locations on Main Street that directly benefit studente of the Homer Center Elementary School.
Westmoreland County Safe Routesd to School Scottdale Borough willreceive $510,00o to create an off-street pedestrian-bicycle facility on Grov Street, which leads to the Southmoreland Elementary School and Southmoreland Middle School campus. For more information, visiyt
